Wonderfully funny but with sharp teeth, NSFW is a dark workplace comedy satirizing media attitudes toward sexuality and personal privacy. In the office of a British men’s magazine, appropriately called Doghouse, disaster strikes when they discover that their amateur centerfold is actually a non-consenting, 14-year-old girl. This play takes off the gloves and tackles modern morality, the objectification of women (by both men and other women), and how the media culture perpetuates mistreatment.
Vaughn Irving, Artistic Director of the Santa Fe Playhouse, says, “NSFW is an important comedy for right now. I’ve never read or seen another piece of theatre or film that makes you understand your own complicity in the system that perpetuates the objectification of women. The show is funny, vulgar, and powerful. I think everyone will be in turn entertained and horrified by this wonderfully written play.”
“Kirkwood’s writing is intelligent, insightful, and rings with one-liners and zippy exchanges.” —Arts Desk
