What is the 2024 SFP Theatre Maker Observership Program?
SFP’s Theatre Maker Observership Program provides emerging and early career creatives (directors, choreographers, designers, stage managers) opportunities to observe professional theatre makers during a Santa Fe Playhouse production.
To expand and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, the Theatre Maker Observership Program is specifically designed for:
- Indigenous, Black, People of Color Theatre Makers
- Theatre Makers with disabilities
- Women Theatre Makers
- LGBTQIAA+ Theatre Makers
Designed to provide mentorship from experienced theatre makers to the emerging creatives that will shape the Southwest and beyond, Observers will watch the production process, from pre-production to opening night.
Directing and Stage Management Observers are expected to be available for at least 80% of rehearsals and production meetings. Designing Observers are expected to be available for 80% of production meetings, all technical rehearsals, all preview performances, and opening night.
Please note this is an Observership position, not an assistantship or internship.
The Theatre Maker Observership is an unpaid position.
Positions will open up throughout the season on a rolling basis.
