YOUNGERS & YOUTH THEATRE

Grades 1-6 & 6-12

CORE VALUES

Active Listening, Inclusion, Empathy, Creating Space, and Community

In 2024, we will have two educational youth offerings. Our new Youngers Theatre Gym (Rising Grade 1 – Exiting Grade 6) and the return of our Youth Theatre Intensive (Rising Grade 6 – Exiting Grade 12).

YOUNGERS THEATRE GYM

Dates: June 10 – June 29
Time: 9:30 am – 2:30 pm (Mondays through Fridays; With two snack times and one lunch break [snacks are provided; lunch is not)
Location: TBD
Instructor: Terri Scullin
Tuition: $1,800.00 Total

Rising Grade 1 – Exiting Grade 6 || In this three-week program, students will strengthen their acting skills through guided drama experiences, theatre games, and improvisation. They will learn how to use movement and voice to express original ideas and explore a variety of characters and situations. Participants will further refine their acting skills as they collaborate to devise an original piece of theatre that they will share with families and guests on the final day of camp.

YOUTH THEATRE INTENSIVE

Dates: July 8 – July 27
Time: 9:30 am – 2:30 pm (Mondays through Fridays; With two snack times and one lunch break [snacks are provided; lunch is not)
Location: New Mexico School for the Arts (500 Montezuma Ave, Santa Fe, NM 87501)
Instructor: David Stallings
Tuition: $1,800.00 Total

Rising Grade 6 – Exiting Grade 12 || Students are welcome to experience a three-week intensive focused on pre-career training in theatre, from audition to performance. Industry mentors lead workshops in audition training, career paths, and acting techniques. During the intensive, students will mount a production of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, prepare an audition monologue, have a headshot session, and be enveloped by the enriching art of theatre. Each student will leave with a digital headshot and personalized resume, having encountered a condensed application of theater from concept to performance.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

The Santa Fe Playhouse believes all of our programs should be available and accessible. If you are in need of financial assistance, we have scholarships and sliding scales available.

Scholarship applications are encouraged from students who identify as members of populations that have historically been denied equity, access, inclusion or belonging in the field and in society, who have been marginalized, underrepresented.

Please email David Stallings (He, They) to learn more. Please do not let the price deter you from participating. We want to make it work.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME

Experience in theatre is not necessary. Young artists interested in the performing arts are encouraged to apply. We are committed to diversity and invite artists of all ethnicities and gender identities, as well as artists with different abilities, to submit.
